Save the date forJuly 30th from 4-6pm for my annual birthday cruise around the Santa Barbara Harbor aboard the Condor Express!
This year, I will be holding the cruise in support of the Isla Vista Community Services District.
You may have heard about Assembly Bill 3, which I authored last year and authorizes the creation of the Isla Vista Community Services District. Both the approval of the District and the Utility Users Tax that will fund additional services for Isla Vista will appear on the ballot for Isla Vista voters this November.
The Isla Vista Community Services District will be able to provide vital services that were prioritized by the community through an in-depth community process that spanned two years. These services, such as supplementing current policing levels and creating a parking program, are critical to the safety and long-term stability of Isla Vista. But there are people who stand to benefit from keeping Isla Vista just the way it is. Which is why we need all hands on deck from the surrounding community to ensure the success of this District.
After nearly 50 years of seeking some form of self-governance, Isla Vista will finally have the chance to vote. I hope you are able to join and support this critical moment in Isla Vista history!
